India’s iron ore imports rise

According to data, India's iron ore imports have increased year by year since 2010.

The country's iron ore imports totaled 2.822 million tons in 2012, soaring by almost 90% in comparison of 1.484 million tons in 2011, affected by the ban on iron ore exploitation and strong demand from steelmakers.

In 2012, South Africa was the largest iron ore exporter to Indian with 808,000 tons, Bahrain was the second largest one with 622,000 tons and Australia was the third largest one with 343,000 tons.
